Cape Town - A cold front, expected to hit the Western Cape on Thursday evening, 10 August is forecast to bring light snow on the Cape's extreme high peaks on Friday, 11 August.
According to Snow Report SA - a snow tracking community that keeps South Africans informed on all things snow-related in the country - snow flurries are estimated, at this stage, to fall along Matroosberg (5cm), Cederberg (1cm), Groot Wellington Sneeukop (5cm) and Sneeuberg in Cederberg (2cm).
"Some of the other high peaks in the Western Cape could also get light dustings," says Snow Report SA, adding that "It is unlikely that there will be any low-level snow at this stage, and all falls will be confined to the high peaks."

With a delay in winter conditions this year and the on-going drought in the Western Cape, we welcome the cold front, rain and snow and hope that conditions are conducive for more wet weather across the region in coming weeks.
And apart from the major benefit of snow helping to ease the drought situation, we know that South Africans will make the most of any opportunity to frolic in light snow dustings and make a fun-family trip to snow spots.
