SA is awash with unique places to capture its spectacular birdlife. Here Traveller24 reader and professional photographer Trevor Kleyn shares his favourite hotspot.

Kleyn says, "My favorite spot in South Africa for birding is, without a doubt, Kgalagai National Park in the Northern Cape. It has got to be the best destination when planning a trip to do birding.

"The hot summer months, in particular, provide for bounteous numbers of raptors and lots of interaction between species.

"There is always plenty of activity concentrated at the waterholes, so it’s a matter of taking a flask of coffee and waiting for something spectacular to come along."
