Check out this functional model airport modeled exactly to scale.

Part of Hamburg's famous Miniatur Wunderland attraction, the Knuffingen Airport is a functional airport complete with Airbus planes and about 90 airport control cars.

Roughly 40 planes take off and land in both day and night settings, and the whole network works on an infrared system run by a computer. Each aircraft even has its own working lights.

It took six years for this German marvel to be built and was finally unveiled in 2011. It cost a total of €3,5 million to complete while being modeled on the city's own airport, according to Daily Mail.

Other miniature exhibits at Wunderland include sections dedicated to Italy, Switzerland, America and of course its home city Hamburg. They are all connected by a railway track and model trains.
