Cape Town - "Star Wars" fans are in for a big surprise as the far away galaxy is set to be a lot closer, come 2019.

This, according to Walt Disney Parks and Resorts chairman Bob Chapek who unveiled the plans for the Star Wars-inspired hotel on Saturday, 15 July says this will be "the most experiential" luxury resort they've ever done.

The highly-anticipated Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge is coming to Disneyland and Walt Disney World Resorts, and will allow guests to visit a remote trading port “on the edge of wild space,” while promising a truly immersive experience.

"It's unlike anything that exists today," says Chapek, speaking at a panel during D23 Expo. "From the second you arrive, you will become a part of a Star Wars story. You’ll immediately become a citizen of the galaxy and experience all that entails, including dressing up in the proper attire. Once you leave Earth, you will discover a starship alive with characters, stories, and adventures that unfold all around you."
