Cape Town - Need a little extra pep to go with your December plans in the Garden Route?
One of the biggest tourists hot spots in the country will obviously be having the biggest jams over vacation time, with lots of festivals and events to keep visitors and locals entertained.

Grab the sunscreen, your bae, a dose of holiday spirit and check out these Garden Route festivals.
Knysna & Plett Blues Festival
This cross-town event will take place on 16 December in Knysna's Mitchell's Brewery and 17 December in Plettenberg Bay at The Barnyard Theatre. It's currently enjoying its third year of classic and modern Blues love, with local artists from all over the country. The line-up includes Gerald Clark, The Black Cat Bones and Crimson House.
You don't have to have had your heart broken by a childhood sweetheart to enjoy the music.

Summer Music Colour Run
Want to have a beat-filled 5km jog while being bombarded by colour from every direction? Then join the Summer Music Colour Run on their Garden Route tour. The run is dotted with various music and colour stations that will make sure you keep moving and grooving.
The event is also alcohol free, so the whole family can get involved. The event will hit these towns on the following dates: Wilderness - 19 December; Mossel Bay - 23 December; Plett - 27 December; Hermanus - 30 December.

Sabrina Love Ocean Challenge
At this event you can flex your swim muscles and contribute to an amazing charity at the same time! The Sabrina Love Foundation provides assistance to children with special needs and their families, and all proceeds from the Ocean Challenge go towards their programmes.
Taking place in Plett on 21 December and The Crags 22 December, the event consists of beach runs, walks, trail running, mountain biking and ocean paddles and swims. There's also a Kids of Steel event for kids between 6 and 12 just to remind some adults of how unfit they really are.

The Barn Reed Valley Live Entertainment
On a farm 8km from Mossel Bay, you can rock your heart out to a stellar line-up at The Barn. There's old school jams from Radio Kalahari Orkes, acoustic vibes with Piekniek vir Twee and even The Parlotones's Summertones Tour makes a stop here.
You can check out the dates here and ticket prices range from R150-R180. Cowboy hats not compulsory.

This is one of the biggest mountain biking events in the Garden Route, bringing in around a thousand entrants each year to the small town of Grootbrak. You can take your pick of a 15km, 36km, 53km or 71km cycle challenge, and those without bikes can do the 4,8km Fun Walk.
The event takes place on 30 December, and entry fees range from R40 to R150. Graba-daba-doo!
