Cape Town - This festive season the Mother City has something to accommodate everyone looking to creating new memories as they have fun with their loved ones. 

If you and your loved ones are heading to Cape Town for the silly season, then you've certainly got options and then some. Activities include everything from play parks, technology as well as space invasion taking place till January 2018.

Last minute family events to check out: 

Canal Walk’s Space Station

This year, earthlings and explorers will come together at Canal Walk’s Space Station, a transformed intergalactic arena complete with a gigantic inflatable space maze where space travellers wannabe are welcomed to explore a series of zones

There will also be a 4m inflatable slide for younger explorers.

Future Park

For the first time ever in South Africa, the Future Park will see children’s drawings come to life before their eyes as this cool and exciting exhibition space uses scanners and sensors in new and innovative ways. 

Children can draw and colour fish and water creatures from their extraordinary imaginations, scan them and watch as they swim around them in a floor-to-ceiling digital screen.

When: 23 September – 31 January

Cost: R130 for single tickets, R460 for a family package of four, R115 for pensioners, R115 for students and under 18 months are free.

The Nutcracker

The famous ballet is returning to the Artscape Opera House this festive season to share a story once more of Clara, Fritz and their eccentric uncle, Drosselmeyer in the always lovely classic, the Nutcracker.

Cost: There is a floorplan so ticket prices vary accordingly. 

Transformers Animatronics

Optimus Prime, Megatron, Bumblebee and the Rescue Bots will invade the African continent for the first time in Transformers Animatronics at SunExhibits, GrandWest Casino.

Following a massively successful Latin American tour, visitors can look forward to breathtaking sculptures, made from wrecked cars, on display against the scenery of the legendary planet, Cybertron, that will be brought to life through eye-popping performance technology.

The DinosAlive

This December, Capegate Shopping Centre hosts the first ever dinosaur augmented reality exhibition in South Africa - DinosAlive Augmented Reality. The expo combines cutting-edge technology with educational elements to deliver a truly immersive dinosaur experience. 
 
Children and adults will have the opportunity to learn about the T-Rex, Velociraptor, Stegosaurus, Triceratops and the Parasaurolophus by interacting with these creatures on a big screen and their phone or tablet and by gathering information from computer-generated Dinos.
