Cape Town - Millenials are often defined by their affinity with technology, their entrepreneurial mindset, and their revitalising effects on cities.
For all their positive attributes, this demographic is also well-documented for their highly expectant standards, and will not stay long in a location that doesn’t match their criteria.
With this in mind, furnished accommodation comparison site Nestpick has examined 16 specific factors, including housing score, tolerance to immigration, equality and a ranking of nightlife options to understand which cities best caters to this mobile generation.
“Millennials travel more at a younger age than any of their preceding generations; this gives them the possibility to find the perfect city for their personal needs” said Ömer Kücükdere Managing Director at Nestpick. “With aging populations cities must cater to the Millennial demographic in order to sustain a thriving economy.”
"We studied thousands of cities to hand-pick 100 places considered to be millennial dream destinations. We then ranked them by relevant factors to compile the ultimate Millennial City Ranking,"says Kücükdere.
Cape Town ranks 77th overall out of the 100 chosen, shining in the areas of food and housing, but sorely lacking when it comes to transport for instance. However, the Mother City has outperformed the overall winner Amsterdam for its festivals ranking as well as put in a strong showing when it comes to start-up culture and gender equality ranking.
