Jozi is pumping with activity for the weekend of the 25 - 27 August, as we approach the end of another month and welcome spring there is more reasons to head out and about. 

The weekend is filled with music from soulful jazz at The Fashion meets Jazz event to hot salsa at The Underground Mambo Party, there is something for everyone. 

The Wits Pride march is an event to get involved in to show support for everyone in the South African community. The Magalies Rocks the Cradle is an event not to be missed with activities for the whole family.

Spring is on its way, where will you be for the weekend of the 25 - 27 August 2017?

Friday, 25 August 

SEE: The wonderful and well-known female DJ's of Jozi at AWA beatz - to celebrate Women's month with a good music session at Brass Bar. Open from 18:00 till late. 

DO: Join the Wits Pride 2017 March in solidarity with the LGBTIAQ community - starting at Wits Great Hall in the East Campus from 13;15- 14:00.

TASTE: The latest in food trends and techniques at the Design Quarter Portobello  - held at the Design Quarter. Locally renowned Chef Coco will be demonstrating his tricks and techniques in a cooking display. It will be an event filled with flavour, innovation, art and design. This event will be running from 25 - 27 August 2017.

EXPLORE: The Fashion meets jazz event for all the latest trends in designer wear,  jazz music and food that will tickle your taste-buds. Taking place at The Orbit - The home of Jazz - tickets cost R 80 R 200  and can be purchased here

Saturday, 26 August 

SEE: The best South African wines paired with a delicious African inspired meals at the official African Wine tasting event - meet and greet some of the latest South African boutique wineries. Open from 14:00 - 20:00 and tickets cost R 250 and can be purchased here

DO: Enjoy the fresh outdoors and welcoming Spring with the Merell JHB Spring Run - ranging from 6 km - 20 km trails. Starting at The Walter Sisulu National Botanical gardens, there is a kids 2 km trail to get the whole family involved. Tickets cost R 135 - R 275 depending on distance chosen and can be purchased here

TASTE: Enjoy a five course meal paired with the ideal beer - A Food and beer pairing event held at SAB World of Beer. Tickets cost R 450 per person and can be purchased here. View the menu for the event here - it with leave you drooling.

Sunday, 27 August 

SEE: Banda Banda perform live at the Sunday Window sessions, hosted at The Orbit -home of Jazz. Entrance is FREE and the performance starts at 17:00 - 20:00. 

DO: Attend the Magaliesburg Wine Festival as part of Magalies Rocks the Cradle Festival - it is an event for the whole family with local craft beers, wines and food to taste. There are activities for the kids to get involved in. Tickets cost R 20 - R120 and can be purchased here. The event starts at 11:00 onward. 

TASTE: The award winning Mexican flavours at Perron in Illovo - for the best in Mexican food in Jozi. Open from 12:00 - 22:00. 

EXPLORE: The Underground Mambo Party at the Bannister Hotel - jive into the Sunday night with Kizombo, salsa and more hot tunes to get into the groove. There will be a delicious array of foods to choose from at The Bannister Bar and Entrance is FREE.
