The coast of South Africa is a well-known destination for many surfers - our swells and oceans make the perfect spot to head out on your board. The JBay Winterfest is dedicated to the surf and draws surfers from far and wide to experience it out on the open South African ocean.

We have an abundance of surf spots along the coastal lines of SA and although some of us might not have the 'surfer' skill there is a new toy in town that might just make surfing a sport for everyone.

Bounce around on the waves

The 'Sumo Tube' - provides a body surfing experience that immerses you right within the tube of the wave. With the Sumo Tube you have an unimaginable view of the wave. The Sumo Tube is an inflatable device and is placed on like a shirt over your body - it is possible to purchase added accessories to prevent the water splashing in your face but what fun with that be? There is an internal inflatable arm rest for added comfort and can be used as a 'towable' or sumo surfing experience.

'Towable' refers being pulled by a boat or a jetty - head off on a wild adventure while the water whisks past you.

After watching this clip you will be giggling all the way to purchasing a Sumo Tube. You might appear like a sumo wrestler in this device but at least you will have the agility of a sea gull as you glide over the waves.

It's clear to see that the South African wave is like no other and it is certainly giving us wanderlust for the ocean and its majestic waves.
